IO423 - Setup
IO423 - Setup — Configure the IO423 Synchro/Resolver
measurement block
Library
Simulink Real-Time - Speedgoat

Description
Your model can contain only one Setup block
for each I/O module in your target machine.
The Setup block dialog box allows all of the supported I/O types of this module to
be configured and therefore impacts on the other driver blocks (S/R read).
Ports
This driver block has no input or output ports.
Parameters
All configuration settings of the IO423 module are organized in the two tabs of
the Setup parameter dialog.
Main Tab
-
PCI Slot (-1: auto-search)
There are two approaches for mapping this block to a specific I/O module installed
in your target machine. All modules of the same type must be configured using the
same method.
Auto-Search: with the default value -1 the I/O module will be automatically located in the
target machine. If you have multiple modules of the same kind, the
Module ID defines which module is associated with this block. To see how
each I/O module maps to a Module ID, use this Speedgoat API:
speedgoat.getIoInterfaces("TargetName", "mySpeedgoat")
Explicit Addressing: to explicitly define the logical address of the
I/O module in the target machine, you can provide the PCI bus and slot
numbers as a vector: [bus, slot]. To determine these numbers, run the
following command in the MATLAB command window:
speedgoat.getIoInterfaces("TargetName", "mySpeedgoat", "Advanced", true)Note
that the PCI address can change whenever an I/O module is added or
removed – usually, auto-search is the best option.
-
Module ID
The Module ID has two functions:
It defines the logical connection between the Setup block and its I/O
blocks
It also informs the auto-search feature of the PCI Slot parameter. If
only one I/O module of this type is installed, the Module ID must be set
to 1. If n modules are installed, it
must be in the range 1:n. Not all the I/O modules installed in the
target machine need to be used. To see how each I/O module maps to a
Module ID, use this Speedgoat API:
speedgoat.getIoInterfaces("TargetName", "mySpeedgoat")
Synchro/Resolver Tab
-
Active Channels
Select the active channels. The IO423 supports up to 4 channels.
Examples: use only some channels: "[1 3]", simply use all channels in
straight order: "1:4".
-
Position output units
Select the units in which all channels output their position.
Available options:
-
Latch channels before read
If Latch channels before read is enabled, all active channels are
converted at the same time and data will be latched.
-
Resolution Settings
Select the resolution for each channel. 10, 12, 14 and 16-Bit
resolution is available. Note: Tracking rate, bandwidth and velocity
scaling is dependent on the resolution. See table below.
-
Two Speed Mode
If two speed mode is selected, either channels 1 & 2 or 3 & 4
are converted simultaneously. This mode can be used in a two speed setup
(Synchros/Resolvers geared together) where one channel is the coarse and
the other one the fine input.
-
Input/Output Ports
Select additional input and output ports for your driver block.
Show max RPS input: Allows the resolution to be changed on the fly
(during simulation). See table below for relation between resolution and
tracking rate.
![[Note]](images/note.png) | Note |
|---|
The scale of the velocity output changes with the resolution.
Example: 10rps in 16-bit mode outputs 2.5V, 10rps in 14-bit mode
outputs 0.625V. |
Show status output: Indicates if the channel is in an error state and
data may not be valid. The causes for an error are as follow:
Loss of signal (threshold 500mV).
Phase error (input signal is more than 180° different from
reference signal).
Excessive error (digital output is more than 100 LSB's
different from input angle).
Loss of reference (threshold 500mV).

|---|
If you have an I/O interface with an internal reference and therefore a fixed
frequency, the maximum achievable resolution depends on the reference
frequency. |
